My name is Andy Archer, and I studied Law and Accountancy at Victoria University of Wellington- LLB(Hons); Dip.Accy.
For 28 years I practised as a tax partner with EY, including time in the UK (3 years), Australia (3.5 years), and Wellington and Auckland.
I led EY’s New Zealand International Tax practice from 2009-2017. I also maintained a strong focus in the financial services and capital markets sector.
Over a period earlier, I led EY’s tax services to private (entrepreneurial) clients, and many of these owner-operator businesses have stuck with me.
I have been a frequent presenter of topics by request of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and, International Fiscal Association (NZ Branch).
I have also undertaken and published research on topics of tax and broader business interest.
Over the past 25 years, I have also maintained senior leadership and governance roles within the N-F-P sector, most notably on behalf of Diabetes New Zealand, and more recently the New Zealand National Parks & Conservation Foundation.
I have amassed considerable commercial experience from a range of leadership and project responsibilities, within EY, from client situations, and from many years of N-F-P involvement. While expertly grounded in taxation, my skill sets are much broader, and offer strong, strategic acumen at across the spectrum at the high end of town, and also with private companies.
You will experience my proactive and guiding style with advice and recommendations which is strategic, adds value, and balances the technical and commercial ramifications of your situation.
Beyond my professional work, and community N-F-P activities, I am an avid rugby supporter, golfer, skier, trekker, and traveller, with a wide circle of enthusiasts.
Originally from Wellington, I live in Auckland now with my lovely wife Jo, having been de-nested by our adventurous three adult children.
